WHO IS DAN ILLOUZ?
MK Dan Illouz is part of the majority faction headed by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. He is a member of the Economic Committee, the Committee of Absorption, Immigration and Diaspora, the Public Projects Committee, and a substitute member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
Mr. Illouz was born in Montreal. From 2005-2006 he studied at Yeshivat HaKotel in the Old City of Jerusalem and then returned to Montreal where he obtained a bachelor's degree in law at McGill University.
Noticing a rise in anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism at universities in North America, he actively participated in defending the State of Israel on campus. He became president of Hillel at McGill.
In 2009, Mr. Illouz made Aliyah. In 2012 he completed a master's degree in public policy at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He then became a lawyer and served in the Israel Defense Forces-IDF. He later served as a Jerusalem city council member and head of the local audit committee. Currently, he serves in the international law department of the military prosecutor's office He is fluent in Hebrew, French, and English. He and his wife live in Jerusalem.
Mr. Illouz is deeply engaged with the Zionist Organization of America in Israel and is a community manager at the Kohelet Forum. Dan was elected to the Oleh seat during the Likud primaries and was sworn in as a Knesset member on January 9th, 2023.
Dan believes in a free market economy, transparency, reducing bureaucracy and he supports the decentralization of state power. He supports the application of Israeli sovereignty and economic growth in Judea and Samaria, with an emphasis on reducing construction barriers and improving infrastructure. He believes the State should use the necessary force and authority to defend Jewish homes from terrorist attacks.
