FINAL REPORT ABOUT OUR EQUITY WORKSHOP FOR EDUCATORS AND PARENTS - AND OTHER ISSUES

MAY THE NEW YEAR, AND YEARS TO COME, BRING BLESSINGS AND BE FRUITFUL

WE STAND AGAINST ANTISEMITISM/ANTIZIONISM

Our “debriefing” session held on December 27th was convened to celebrate and thank our esteemed presenters and volunteers with a Le’Chaim , and to exchange ideas about what we can do to equip educators and parents with tools to combat Antisemitism prevalent in our schools.

Many constructive and strategic ideas were voiced, all of which, will be given serious in-depth evaluation. Our plan is to look at all our future activities in the next [approximately] 2-3 months, with a view to identifying where we can be most useful and how we can build a larger organization, and to be more effective”.

THE RISE OF ANTISEMITISM AND ANTIZIONISM IN OUR SCHOOLS.

“Jew hatred, often called Antisemitism is on the rise in Canada. This hatred has morphed from attacks on Jews and Jewish organizations to attacks on Jews-anti-Zionism. Our students from public school through university are under attack from anti-Zionism-the call that Israel is not a legitimate state, that she has no right to exist and that Israel is oppressing Muslims: who refer to themselves as Palestinians. There are safe spaces on campus for everyone but Jews. Our Jewish children and some families are hiding their identity out of fear of being bullied! described Dianne. Read here

LINDA FRUM, Canadian Senator (retired) and now Chair of UJA, Toronto reminded us of the disturbing and dangerous rise of Jew hatred in our schools; places where all students should feel safe and know they can be heard. She pointed out that while antiracism is at the forefront of conversation today, especially in our schools, Jew hatred is ignored. Jewish teachers and students feel threatened whenever Israel is attacked by organizations, NGO’s and main stream media. And those attacks are frequent and nasty as Israel is the only nation held up to an ideal no other nation has been asked to uphold.

Here is some feedback from our seminar:

  1. TDSB teacher: MARC GARNEAU COLLEGIATE: It is one year ago today that our school’s students walked out of classes to stage a Palestinian protest outside the 2 schools at the corner of Don Mills and Overlea Boulevard Park Middle School, where it was reported a few days later that a student gave the hiel Hitler salute to a Jewish teacher. I feel strongly now about eliciting your help to educate him, our TDSB school area’s superintendent and others.

  2. Leon Kushner: Thanks so much for holding this wonderful seminar. The teachers did an excellent presentation. I could see that they put enormous effort in doing so. I also applaud every teacher (Jewish or not) who actively speaks out against the antisemitic bullies. That takes some serious courage. We are living in scary times and we must try our best to wake up the Jewish community to stand up for ourselves

  3. Marc Cohen: “Congratulations on the recent success of the workshop "Unpacking Antisemitism & Antizionism in our schools and Campuses"! The conference presented in depth historical and current-day material in a way that was thorough, thought provoking and easily digestible. I feel I and the rest of your audience gained key and valuable insights, information and data to help us better defend the legitimacy and merits of our spiritual homeland”

DEBUNKING THE SUICIDAL “2 STATE SOLUTION” In the heartland of Israel. Jewish History matters!

People talk of a ‘Middle East Peace Process’ which involves the Palestinians and Israel. They talk about advancing a “two-state solution.” That process is a total illusion which has nothing to do with peace. It has everything to do with accelerating a process begun in ancient times. That process was and remains the effort to finally eradicate the Jewish idea of G-d as the creator of all and the source of the moral law which includes The Ten Commandments.
