PURIM - AND OTHER MATTERS + HOLD THE DATE: APRIL 24TH - COMMEMORATING THE SAN REMO RESOLUTION

MODERN DAY ESTHER NOT MORDECHAI AND ESTHER -- THIS YEAR WE REMEMBER JONATHAN AND ESTHER POLLARD

NEVER DID THESE WORDS RING MORE TRUE: “YOU SAVE ONE LIFE, IT'S AS IF YOU SAVED THE ENTIRE WORLD."

Esther and Jonathan Pollard—Days of bliss, and happiness!

VOLUMES WOULD BE INSUFFICIENT ABOUT JONATHAN AND ESTHER’S HEROIC DEEDS As the saying goes: THERE IS NO GOOD DEED THAT GOES UNPUNISHED

The principle thing Jonathan Pollard did was to provide Israel with those critical pieces of information which the United States, in violation of its solemn commitments to Israel, was withholding for political, not security, reasons. Such actions by the Americans constituted an undeclared intelligence embargo that threatened to blindside Israel as to the existential threats she faced.

However, it’s crucial to point out, that contrary to all the unsubstantiated rumours circulating about the supposed “damage” Pollard did to US national security, according to the US government’s own assessment, the only damage done by Pollard’s actions was to make certain Arab states furious that he had made Israel too strong. And for this unforgivable crime, Pollard received a life sentence.

Jonathan’s punishment was a Life sentence, with no parole in sight. It was publicly stated that “He will never see the light of day ever again”

Fast Forward:

Esther becomes a part of Jonathan’s plight, by scarifying her life, dedicated to freeing Jonathan. First, by unhesitatingly and secretly marrying him despite his bleak future, despite the venom and calumny heaped upon her for her determination to achieve the dream for his release….

The years went by, one after another, with thirty years of incarceration, plus 5 years of restrictive parole.

AND ON DECEMBER 29TH 2020 JONATHAN AND ESTHER MADE ALIYAH CULMINATING IN TWO OF THEIR LIVES’ DREAMS: LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER, AND LOVE OF ERETZ YISRAEL.

By this time Esther became terminally ill, in spite of which their love flourished -- but only for a short while. In her last letter dated December 29, 2021 to family and friends, knowing that the end was near, she bade farewell to us all—and she found her eternal rest on January 31, 2022 -- leaving the world deprived of the present day ESTHER.

MAY HER MEMORY BE A BLESSING FOR AM YISRAEL!

Israel welcomes Ukrainian Jewish Refugees: Then and Now

1948 when Jews fled from the occupying Russians of Eastern Europe, a scant few years after the Holocaust, Israel was still under the British Mandate. Due to restricted immigration rules, most refugees were exiled to Cyprus, for an indefinite length of time.

2022 Sharansky shared his childhood experience at a recent event:

“When I grew up in Ukraine in the city of Donetsk, there were people of various nationalities living there.

“Their ID certificates had the word ‘Russian’, ‘Ukrainian’, ‘Georgian’, ‘Kozaki’, it wasn’t that important and there wasn’t much of a difference. One thing was important - if it had the word ‘Jewish’ written on it, that would be as if you had some disease.

“We knew nothing about Judaism, except antisemitism and hatred towards us.

“That’s why no one tried to replace the word ‘Russian’ or the word ‘Ukraine’, in order to get accepted to the university. But if it you had the word ‘Jewish’ on your ID papers and you could manage to change that, your chance of getting accepted was so much higher.

“I was reminded of this while watching this week how thousands of people are standing at the borders, trying to escape the tragedy in Ukraine.

They stand there day at night, and there’s only one word today that can help them get out: “Jewish”. If you are a Jew - there are Jews outside who care for you, there is someone on the other side of the border looking for you, your chance of getting out is so much higher.

The world I knew has been turned upside down. When I was a child ‘Jewish’ was an extraordinary bad word, no one was jealous of us! Today at the border of Ukraine, ‘Jewish’ is an extraordinary word for good, it describes people who have somewhere to go and there’s an entire nation - their family, waiting for them outside.

Geoffrey Clarfield Interviews Goldi Steiner Re Amnesty International Branding Israel as an Apartheid State

What To Tell Your Children about Amnesty International

By Geoffrey Clarfield

Amnesty International has recently come out with a report thatstates Israel is an apartheid state and does not have a right to exist. Simply put, this is the latest secular version of the libel that Jews and Judaism are immoral and bad, and therefore anything the Jews do, like reconstitute their national homeland in the state of Israel, is bad because it hurts “others,” that favorite word of left leaning social scientists.

The report is a secular version of the replacement theology of both traditional Christian and Muslim theologians who have taught that Judaism and the Jewish people are “out of date” and therefore all Jews should have by now joined these two new faiths.

GOLDI’S COMMENTS RE ARTICLE ABOVE

“Israel’s legal right to exist and the indigeneity of the Jewish people in the land of Israel is part of the same framework of law, that Canadian and American law students learn but fail to apply. Our own community leaders and spokespeople must become knowledgeable, and courageous enough to recognize and publicize this simple truth.

Together we must strive to break through the walls of resistance by most educational institutions/campuses in and outside of our own communities, who deny those facts, and indoctrinate rather than educate students about factual truth. To persuade them to do so continues to be my life’s ambition.”
