TIME TO TELL THE TRUTH
We acquired control of eastern Jerusalem, where the Temple Mount stands, during the Six Day War in 1967. The famous oft-repeated cry in the course of the battle for the city was “Har Habayit B’Yadenu!” “The Temple Mount is in our hands!” That was Motta Gur, IDF Chief of Staff who commanded the brigade that broke through to the Old City via the Lions Gate. Soldiers wept. Rabbi Shlomo Goren blew the shofar (pictured above) and recited prayers.
